This project was for the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the interior public space to create a new look shop, reception area, coffee shop and Show Portal to the science theatres and planetarium. The works were completed over a 10 week period while the centre was fully open to the public with regular daily school visits during term time. The works entailed demolition work, strip out with new partitions, wall ceiling and floor finish and new lighting throughout the refurbished areas. New entrance doors were installed with the public entrance moved to the waterfront elevation and a new schools entrance to the carpark elevation. Phase 2 of the works involved external works to create a new public entrance from the dock side elevation. The external works included the demolition of large brick walls to the existing bin store area and the relocation of the bin store. New hard landscaping including paving works, the formation of new steps, with new street furniture.
